The National Technology Agency of Finland, Tekes, is in the process of preparing a new technology programme called 'Converging Networks'. The new programme is planned to be started during summer 2005 and it will focus on the development of broadband communications technologies.
As within the 'NETS - Networks of the Future' technology programme, which was concluded in January 2005, also within the new technology programme Tekes will aim to strengthen R&D cooperation between Japanese and Finnish specialists active in the development of communications technologies and solutions. More specifically, cooperation will be pursued along the main themes of the Converging Networks technology programme, which are wireless access, seamless networking, network support and evolution of value networks in telecommunications business.
In order to build concrete cooperation projects between Japanese and Finnish researchers within the new technology programme, Tekes is planning to organize a workshop in Finland where both Finnish and Japanese participants can freely present and discuss with each other their ideas and suggestions for joint R&D projects. The purpose of the workshop is to identify common research items and to function as a starting point for formulating actual project plans together with the prospective partner(s) from the other country. Also the various possibilities and procedures required to obtain financing for the project will be discussed in the initial workshop.
The workshop will be organized in autumn 2005. If you are interested in this workshop please send a message to us and we will send you more detailed information.
